RACING GLIDERS
Teaching AI to Fly. Discovering How to Soar.
Chuck Lohre
As fun as it is to introduce you to racing gliders, this book is really about the art of teaching. In between, I share my aviation heritage - from model gliders and falconry to hard-won lessons from my own misjudgments - and explore Benjamin Bloom's Domains of Learning as a guide to mastery. My previous books explored understanding existence; this one goes further into the motivation, understanding, and practice you need to stay alive. Teaching is like stepping into another's mind - one you can see but cannot touch. You can only show the light and nourishment; they must grow. I discovered the same holds true for Artificial Intelligence. I conclude by creating an AI based on a living person, exploring what it means to share consciousness with a digital mind.
